This project is located on one of Belgravia’s iconic streets in London and had been left untouched from the 1940s, requiring a complete practical and creative renovation.
Belgravia’s elegant and timeless architecture and the surrounding historic gardens full of vibrant exotic plants provided the perfect backdrop for inspiration.
Supremati developed a rich and vivacious colour palette to match the atmosphere. Yet simultaneously “we wanted to create a calm and relaxing apartment that would look and feel as bright, elegant and welcoming as Belgravia’s neighbourhood.”
One of the design challenges was how to maximise the limited 80 sqm flat. “In the entrance we created a shallow wardrobe with mirrored doors in a space gained between the structural walls. A bench with a drawer for shoes was added underneath, between the two structural beams, in order to separate the entrance, dining and living areas. The practical aspect of design is very important to us, and we wanted our client to have a space to sit, take their shoes off and a space to hang their coat after returning home.”
Supremati also made use of mirrors to completely transform the flat, resulting in light flooding through each room - ensuring each space feels brighter and wider than it actually is.
